Davide Sottocornola - Pro Enduro Rider

Davide Sottocornola Italian 2012 Enduro Champion and winner of the Superenduro series in 2012 is currently the number one sponsored Italian Santa Cruz rider by DSB Bonandrini. We spoke to Davide in order to find out what he is doing this year in 2014, find out about his new bikes and also find out about how you can test the Santa Cruz range of bikes with him and Bagnoli Bike at Il Cicalino this coming march 2014.

Davide, How did 2013 go for you with the Enduro World Series?

Lets say that a second place in the Italian rankings missing out by only 1.5 seconds is not something to throw away. There were lots of ups and downs this year mentally and physically, in Enduro from today, a rider needs to always be 100 percent.

What were your feelings about the racing styles this year?

I took part in all the European rounds of the EWS, I really enjoyed the french rounds, long stages, difficult, a few with long climbs, a few with long descents, always on a trail, it was a real form of Enduro I like, with improvisation. Like this it helps you increase your riding level.

You have recently swapped bikes to the Santa Cruz Bronson, why?

I have taken the general line that Enduro is moving to 27.5″ wheels, that are easier to pedal. My main sponsor DSB Bonandrini the main agent for Santa Cruz in Italy also has decided to support me with the Bronson Carbon, I am very happy with this choice, for me with the type of racing I do 27.5″ is ideal.

What are your aims in 2014?

For the 2014 season I hope to perform at the highest level at the Superenduro Pro races, and compete at all the EWS European rounds, hopefully a few American rounds, but I will decide that further ahead. I love exploring new trails.

How have you been setting your bike up and training in preparation for the new season?

Actually having time to train is great, I’m working in the gym a lot to acquire more explosive energy and power. This involves also training on the bike and also on the road, you can see from the photos the modifications I have made to my Bronson carbon.

What is the Objective of the March Training With Bagnoli Bike?

The objective of the training course at Il Cicalino near Massa Marittima on the 15-16 of march with Bagnoli Bike is to create a more secure and efficient riding experience for the riders on the course. This will help improve the rider’s experiences when they ride Enduro. For the already expert riders it will increase their performance more.

What do you do when not racing on a bike?

When I’m not racing I go out and ride with my friends and girl friend. I like to ride around gently maybe stop on a few parts of the trails I ride and learn to jump and ride sections perfectly, and improve my racing skills.

Any Tips For Normal Riders Who Want to Race?

This year there are more than 50 races in Italy! From the basic level up to more important races. The most important thing to have is a small base of training and then just have fun with your bike and friends.
